Welcome & Inclusion

Third Way Church welcomes all to worship with us, and commits to treating all people with respect, care, and the love of Christ.

Covenant Partnership is open to all who align with our statement of faith, and accept, practice, and covenant themselves to our shared covenant values. Persons holding active Covenant Partnership status may participate in all aspects of church life (including voting on church business, and holding any office or role in the church’s ministry).

Performance of wedding ceremonies, regardless of sexual orientation of the couple, is left up to each pastor’s conscience and discernment, based on knowledge of the couple’s relationship and the pastor’s own theological convictions.

Unity Amidst Difference

At Third Way Church, our aim is to keep Jesus Christ at the center of our faith and practice—his ministry, death, resurrection, and empowerment of the Church through the Holy Spirit. As our name suggests, we actively seek a “third way,” where disagreements do not necessarily lead to hostility and the fracturing of relationships. Instead, we place them in the hands of Jesus while seeking ongoing learning and sanctification.

This approach means we are a theologically diverse group on a variety of issues. One of these points of diversity is around the theological question of same-sex relationships. We recognize that this question has been fodder for painful divisions interpersonally, in society, and in the church. With a spirit of mutual love and humility, rather than draw a hard line in the sand, we choose to embrace and value our diversity on this (and many other) issues as a witness to the power of Jesus Christ to bring unity amidst difference. We include this statement on our website to be transparent about our theological diversity on this sensitive topic.

We hope you will join us in our journey with Jesus.
